Short story on famous Indian personality

Short story on famous Indian personality

From childhood, it is good to narrate positive, motivational stories of famous personalities to kids.
These stories help in the strong character building of the kids.
From these stories, it will be clear that everyone is born equal. But it is sheer willingness to change and hard work that makes someone stand better than others.

Introduction

A small boy goes to school but gets scolding by the teacher on daily basis. One day, the scolding got severe. Since the boy could not memorize his studies properly, the teacher hit him on his back. The teacher also abused him saying that he does not need a donkey in the class.

Even the parents of the boy were not happy with him. They also seemed to lose hope in their child.

The boy himself seemed confused. He sat beside a pond thinking whether he was actually so dumb. He thought to himself –
“If my friends can memorize, why can’t I? Am I really not as intelligent as my friends?”

Backdrop

It was a small village in rural Bengal. The pond beside which the boy was sitting was located in the middle of the village. All village women brought their pitchers and kept them over a stone slab on the periphery of the pond. They performed their daily chores like bathing on the pond, filled the pitcher with water, and went back home.

Sudden observation

The boy was sitting beside the pond, absent-minded and thinking what is wrong with himself. He did not notice when the entire day passed by and it was on the verge of the sunset…
Suddenly the boy observed the stone where the rural women keep their pitchers. Since the pitchers were repeatedly kept over the stone over a period of time, several holes had emerged on the stone surface.

The boy thought to himself –

“How beautiful is this ! a surface as strong as a stone got eroded. The erosion over the stone surface happened since the pitchers had rubbed over it repeatedly.

If repeated use can erode a tough surface like stone, then nothing in this world is impossible if done repeatedly.

I cannot memorize the studies by reading once or twice. But, if I read 10 times or 20 times or 100 times, then might remember it”.

As he thought, he implemented.
The boy went back home, closed the doors, and started reading the subject. He ignored all his feelings of sleeping and eating. He continued with his studies till he was satisfied. With high levels of concentration, he continued to read the subjects where he was weak. Finally, when he was satisfied, he opened the doors of his study room and prepared to go to school.

Went back to school

The boy went back to school and successfully convinced his teacher.
His teacher was also happy to see the seriousness & perseverance of his student and readmitted him to school.

The boy later became a renowned Pandit in Bengali literature. His name was Bopdev Goswami. His father was a famous Ayurveda doctor. He was born in Boguri district, now in Bangladesh.

Conclusion

An insignificant observation from mother nature changed the life of this kid. Such small corrections in life can transform everyone.

Everyone encounters several challenges in life on a daily basis. While some parents extend their support to the kids during tough times, others might get frustrated with the outcomes.

This story will act as a motivational story for the kids. The resilience, immense level of concentration, and grit of the boy in the story will inspire the readers.
I hope that this particular story will act as a motivation to millions of kids and help them express their full potential.
